Cory Doctorow is a science fiction author, activist, journalist, blogger and dad. While surfing the web, I came across his talk at TEDx on kids and online privacy. In 12 minutes, he illustrates the problem with wanting our kids to value privacy when they live in a society that uses every means available to usurp their privacy. His solution is to teach our kids to use encryption, fake names, whatever it takes, to hide their activities from prying eyes. Even if you do not agree with him, his story about how 2 teenage girls used his friend’s blog makes it worth watching.
